The Tripping Souls is the brainchild of Concord native Paul Makris, who played all the music and sang all the vocals on this EP. Throughout the record, there is a clear sense of longing for a time that is slipping away from Makris; each track reads like a fond remembrance or a mournful regret of his past, whether it’s a physical place (“The Riverbed” and “Place That I Love”) or something more ethereal (“It’s Changed”).
The sound itself is no different, thematically; the mature jam rock is reminiscent of the post-Nirvana mid-’90s scene with a hint of a ’70s Brit-pop-punk hybrid.
