The Concord Recreation Department has all sorts of fun going on this summer (read about its Splash Bashes on page 16). Here’s a sampling of some more family-friendly events that will keep you and the kiddies occupied during the hot summer months.
On June 13 (rain date June 14) celebrate White Park’s 125th birthday from 1 to 4 p.m. by watching a baseball game, playing games and munching on some food. Hey, White Park, you’re lookin’ good for 125!
On June 25 keep the little ones (3- to 6-years-olds) entertained at the Teddy Bear Picnic at the White Park pool from 5:30 to 7 p.m. There will be music, juice, Teddy Grahams and a chance for the kids to parade around with their teddy. B.Y.O.B. (bring your own bear.) The cost is $3, free for parents.
On June 27 (rain date June 28) the seventh annual River Jamboree will be held at Waterfront Park at Everett Arena, 15 Loudon Road, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy free canoeing, kayaking, face painting, games, music and more. A rubber duck race will be held at 1:15 p.m. The recreation office, 1 White St., will start selling ducks on June 1 for $3 per duck or two for $5.
On July 4 celebrate the Fourth of July at Memorial Field. Fireworks start at dusk (that’s around 9:15 p.m. for those who were wondering), but the fun begins before that when the vendors open at 5:30 p.m. A $2 donation will be collected at the gate.
