Eat, drink, pet animals

If I had to draw a diagram of my heart, there would be one large soft spot dedicated to animals. To the right of that (equal in size) would be the portion of my heart devoted to food. Of course, there would also be sizable areas for my fiancé, ’80s music and Insider readers, but this Q&A is really about the first two subjects: yummy things and cuddly, furry animals. Plastic bag reminder

Plastic bags do not belong in your recycling bin. Plastic bags should not be dumped into the recycling containers at the transfer station. The transfer station needs to post a message to this effect on all of its containers. You should have one if you have a lot of activities you do without your parents around. Cell phones are good if there is a change in plans or you need to talk to your parents immediately. I need it for play practice, sports, piano lessons and at friends’ houses. I...

How convenient is it?

There's nothing worse than pulling up to a gas pump and discovering that the apparatus to hold the pump in place is missing, causing you to miss the end of “Market Place” or, worse, to stand out in the cold for what feels like forever while the pump clicks slowly forward because there's someone else on the opposite side slowing down the pumping speed. Or . . . You purchase a half-gallon of milk only to get home...

City Briefly

Woohoo! Someone thank these volunteers City Manager Tom Aspell brought to light some volunteerism that warrants mentioning in his weekly city memo. He writes, “On behalf of the Recreation Department, the city would like to express its appreciation to the 82 volunteer youth basketball coaches that donated approximately 1,848 hours of their time to coach the 2008-2009 winter basketball program.” Yikes! That’s a lot of hours. Talk about...
