The Food Snob

You don't have to go all the way to China for Chinese food

In honor of the Bow issue, The Insiders agreed to send me on an all-expense paid lunchtime trip to the exotic town of Bow. I had a hard time selecting a place to eat, since, well, many of Bow's lunchtime spots are actually in the big city of Concord. After some research, I decided to go to Chen Yang Li Restaurant, 520 South St. Not only had I heard good things about the place, but the…

Here’s an idea: A field trip to Bow!

Maybe it was because of the onset of seasonal depression, or the lack of sunlight in the month of February (and January and December), but Cassie and I decided we really needed a field trip. We racked our brains trying to come up with a suitable location, something that would be of interest to Concord readers, but also somewhere fun - a mini-vacation of sorts. (Very mini - we'd have…

February 23 The plow standoff At approximately 8:15 a.m., Officer Adam Fanjoy and Officer Wade Brown were dispatched to the vicinity of Abbot Road and Wildflower Drive in regard to a woman blocking a Concord city snowplow. According to Brown's report, he spoke with the driver of the snowplow upon arrival. The driver said for the past few weeks a woman had been coming out of her home and standing in the road every time he approached the home. The driver believed the woman was trying to prevent him from plowing her driveway in, Brown wrote, but he said he has grown concerned that she might cause…

A Pretty good show

Proof that seniors have way more fun

You're not really an Insider until you experience one of the Pretty Good Talent Company's musical comedies. It's sort of a rite of passage. I'm proud that after seven months of working for The Insider, I can finally say I am a real Insider. I have Bill Twibill of "Ask the Elders" fame to thank for this. Bill, as some of you may already know (since we've been covering this event ever…

Bow mysteries, solved!

We gave Eric a lot of homework over the weekend – not only did we ask for driving tour destinations, but we also sent him some questions to respond to, courtesy of our dear readers. You’ve got an “A” in our book, Eric. Where does Bow get its name from? Roseanne Cota Eric’s answer: I have always been led to believe that it was originally called “Bow” because of the bend or bow in the Merrimack River…
