Tickets to Audi shows

Spurred by the spirit of its founders – three music teachers in Concord public schools – the Concord Community Concert Association announces a new outreach to area students, offering free tickets to the four concerts planned in the 2012-13 season. Starting its 82nd year of presenting top performers from the world of music, the association formed in 1930 when the teachers worried that the Depression-struck city, and especially its children, would have no chance to hear great live music.

In previous years, the association has presented special matinee performances of its scheduled evening concerts at local school assemblies and at the Concord City Auditorium for special school group programs. Thanks to the generous support of its Student Outreach Concert sponsors, the association is now able to provide complimentary tickets to its full evening concerts at the Audi to all area music students and their accompanying families.

The season-opening concert Oct. 6 will be especially appealing to young people studying piano and winds, as the renowned Mexican virtuosi, flutist Marisa Canales and pianist Roberto Hidalgo, will perform a program of Spanish and South American classics. The duo winds up its tour schedule on the Concord City Auditorium stage.

On Nov. 6, the extraordinary baroque quartet from Great Britain, Red Priest, will perform Vivaldi. Music buffs recognizing that Vivaldi himself was known as the “Red Priest” will particularly enjoy the music played on period instruments. The CCCA series continues with the Symphony New Hampshire Concertmaster String Quartet in March and the dynamic Brazilian pianist Victor Cayres in April.

The ticket offer has been extended through the principals and music departments of area high schools, but is available to all music students and their families inpidually as well. Tickets to the Oct. 6 concert are available at The UPS Store, 75 S. Main Street, and by mailing a request to the CCCA at PO Box 2373, Concord 03302.
