Seeking nominations

The New Hampshire Preservation Alliance wants to hear from you! In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the statewide nonprofit historic preservation organization is seeking nominations for milestone preservation projects of the last 25 years. Go to nhpreservation.org to cast your vote by Dec. 30.

New Hampshire can take pride in being the home of many projects that are considered milestones in the history of the modern preservation movement. The rescue of Portsmouth properties that became Strawbery Banke; the revitalization of mills in Harrisville; the revival of the Wentworth-by-the-Sea Hotel; and the rescue and re-use of the Daniel Webster Farm in
Franklin are a few examples. The preservation of these highly significant places was exemplary for the many challenges overcome and the positive impacts on local communities and the state.

Selection criteria include the significance of the resource, the degree of challenge or innovation and the impact on local communities or the state.

Paramedic program receives a donation

On Dec. 1, Chris Pappas, Ken Jordan, and Tom Hughes – representing the Kiwanis Club of Concord – presented a check for $1,500 to Nancy Brubaker and Martin Jean of NHTI’s Paramedic Emergency Medicine program.

The Kiwanis Club has supported the paramedic program for more than 20 years.
This year’s donation will support the purchase of a pediatric mannequin, allowing students to develop the specialized skills required to practice emergency medicine on small children. It will also go toward the purchase of a breath sounds module, which simulates the sounds of a patient’s distressed breathing under various medical conditions, and helps students learn to recognize and properly react to those situations.
