Some things to consider before hopping onto your snowmobile

It's time to sign up for snowmobile education classes offered across the state. To operate a snowmobile in New Hampshire, any person older than 12 must have either a valid motor vehicle driver's license or have successfully completed an approved off-highway recreational vehicle safety education class taught by volunteer instructors trained by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department. Additionally, children younger than 14 must be accompanied by a licensed adult when operating a snowmobile, unless they are on property belonging to their parents, grandparents or guardians.

Most snowmobile safety classes are offered in November and December, with a few in early January, so sign up soon. Classes are free. For a current class schedule, visit ride.nh.gov.
