So you think you can pie?

Do family members always ask for seconds of your homemade pumpkin pie? Have you been told that you have the best cherry pie in town? Is your meat pie to die for?

To help you with your Thanksgiving baking, readers, we’re holding our third annual pie bake-off. We hope you’re ready.

Here’s how it works: We’re looking for volunteers to bake their signature pie for our famished taste-test panel (a scrupulous bunch of Monitor reporters, editors and photographers).

Participants must deliver their pie and recipe to the Monitor building, off Sewalls Falls Road, on Nov. 17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Each member of the panel will try the pies submitted and score them accordingly. The highest-scoring pie will be declared the winner, and will receive a $50 gift certificate to any business of his or her choice in Concord. The winner can, of course, use their earnings to make us more pie. Or cake.

In the Nov. 23 issue, we’ll not only announce the winner but also print the top pie recipes.
Here’s some fine print: We’re equal-opportunity pie eaters, so you do not have to live in Concord to enter. And there’s no age limit, so if you’re 12 and like to bake, you’re in (just be sure to scrub your mitts real good before you start cooking).

If you entered last year, you’re welcome to participate again, but you must submit a different recipe.
