Piccola Opera wants you to visit their new spot

On Feb. 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Piccola Opera will hold an open house for the public to visit their new office and studio space at 8 N. Main St. in downtown Concord.

“We are excited to share the beauty and history of opera with our Concord community. Piccola Opera means “little opera” in English, but our offerings are anything but small. In addition to offering fully-staged affordable, but high quality opera productions at the Concord City Auditorium, Piccola Opera will offer community classes, private and group voice lessons and a Youth Opera Chorus at our new studio,” says Carlos Martinez, music director for the company. “We have something for everyone and invite folks to stop in and get a little taste of what we have to offer.”

The open house will offer refreshments, free concerts, and mini-classes and lessons throughout the day. In addition, the opera company will be hearing auditionees interested in performing with the company in 2015 productions of “The Magic Flute,” “A Celebration of Gilbert & Sullivan” and the one-act opera, “I Pagliacci.” Anyone interested in performing with the opera company are especially invited to attend the open house as there are voices needed for “The Magic Flute” and other upcoming performances.

“Piccola Opera is like no other opera company in the country. Our mission to educate, enlighten and entertain our audiences will begin right here in our downtown community. Our goal is to bring the culture and music of great composers like Mozart, Puccini and Verdi to New Hampshire residents with innovative and interactive programming which will center right here in our downtown community,” says founder and artistic director, Jane Cormier.
