We were digging through our archives the other day when it hit us: Man, we are getting old!
Of course, newspapers age a little differently than human people do (and we human people take liberties with our own aging from time to time - this editor just celebrated his "funteenth" birthday - again!). At the Insider, we count our age in issues, not in years, and we've come up on a milestone.
After some exhaustive math by our staff (and some equally exhaustive but significantly more accurate math by Monitor managing editor Ric Tracewski), we've determined that this is Insider issue no. 300! Of course, we started counting from zero, not one, so there's no need to call us at all hours of the night to inform us that there were actually 53 Tuesdays in 2008.
That's a lot of issues, but we like to think we're none the worse for wear. This old gal looks pretty good! (Our secret? Weekly trips through a printing press! Who'd have thought?) And yet, we're still as cool as ever. How many other publications are as hip to the slang that kids are using these days (like hip!)? How many other papers know all about Jonah's Brothers or Justin and the Biebers? Probably none!
And the best part is, we're free! In today's economic climate, you can't afford not to read the Insider.
