Local harvest dinner

The Concord Energy and Environment Committee will hold its third annual local harvest supper on Sept. 27. The purpose of the event is to celebrate Concord's vibrant and growing local food community and to highlight the connections among food production, environmental impact, and energy use.

Students from the Culinary Arts program at Concord High School's Regional Technical Center will be involved in all aspects the of the event, including food preparation and food service, providing a hands-on learning environment.

Cheryl King Fischer, the executive director of the New England Grassroots Environmental Fund, will deliver a keynote address titled “Building our Local Food System: A Feast of Players, A Feast of Food.” Fischer is a leading activist on sustainability issues in the New England region.

There will be cocktails served at 5 p.m. followed by the dinner at 6. The event takes place at the Grappone Conference Center, 70 Constitution Ave.
