“Active Listeners” is held Mondays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Geared for children under age 3 with an adult. This 30-minute interactive program includes finger plays, short books and more. No program April 20 and April 23.

Family storytime is held on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Fridays at 4 p.m. Geared for ages 2- to 6-years-old with an adult. No program April 21 and April 24.

Men’s coffee chat is held March 18, April 1 and April 15 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Share your life stories or listen to others as you enjoy your morning coffee. Men of all ages are welcome.

“Word Wizards” is held March 11 and April 8 at 4 p.m. This is a monthly book club for children in grades 2-4. Children should read any book in the “Animal Ark” series by Ben Baglio for March’s meeting and any collection of poems for April’s meeting.

“Super Saturday” is held March 21 and April 18 at 11 a.m. This event is for children ages 5 and up with a parent. Registration required.

The knitting/crochet/needlework club is held March 19 and April 16 at 6:30 p.m. and March 25 and April 22 at 10:30 a.m.

“Rookie Readers” is held April 2 and April 30 at 4 p.m. This is a monthly book club for newly independent readers, grades kindergarten through second. Children should bring their favorite poem to the April 2 meeting, and may read a book of their choice for April 30.

Special events:
“Green Cleaning” is held on March 24 at 6:30 p.m. Join a representative from the Concord Co-op to learn about how you can use natural products to clean and freshen your living space. Registration required.

“Balancing Work and Life Issues” is held on March 25 at 6:30 p.m. Amy Gebo, wellness coordinator, will discuss stress management and balancing work and home life strategies.

“Yankee Humor with Rebecca Rule” is held April 1 at 6:30 p.m. Join humorist, Rebecca Rule, as she shares stories collected from small-town gatherings in and around New Hampshire.

“Knight’s Tale” is held April 20 at 11 a.m. Learn about the evolution of arms and armor in Western Europe through an interactive program from the Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester, Mass.

On April 25 at 11 a.m., join Patricia Grasso, an award-winning romance author, for an informative and entertaining session on writing, publishing and the romance industry. Registration required.

Book talks:
March 10 at 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. March’s book is “Chocolat,” by Joanne Harris.

April 11 at 2 p.m. Teens in grades 9 to 12 are invited to read and discuss “Does My Head Look Big in This?” by Randa Abdel-Fattah.

April 14 at 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. April’s book is “Glass Castle,” by Jeanette Wall.

Bow Garden Club

A club meeting is held at 91 Bow Center Road on April 15, 6:30 p.m. During the meeting, “Good Soil – Great Garden,” is presented by master gardener, Ed McMonagle. Guests are welcome! For more information, contact Ginny Urdi at 774-4476.

Joyful Noise Preschool

The preschool will hold a spaghetti dinner and auction on March 14 at the Bow Community Building on Knox Road. Dinner will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. and will include spaghetti with or without meatballs, salad, bread, a drink and dessert. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children with family discounts available. Pay ahead and save: adults $5, children $2.50 (send a check or pay at Joyful Noise Preschool).

A live auction of goods and services donated by businesses and inpiduals will begin at 6:15 p.m. Videos will be available for children to watch during the auction. All proceeds benefit the Joyful Noise Preschool scholarship fund and the Joyful Noise Learning Center emergency fund.

Bow Parks and Recreation Department

Bow’s recreation department offers neat programs and activities for those who want to venture beyond Concord. Programs range from belly dancing to dog obedience classes. Be sure to visit the website, or stop by the department or library for an event flier.

A concert, Dan Zanes and local friends, will take place on May 10, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets cost $10 each and can be purchased at Imagination Village, French’s Toy Shop, Gibson’s Book Store, and at the door.
