Is it May yet?

Concord Arts Market opens its spring/summer 2009 season, Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 33 Capitol St. in downtown Concord. This spring, the weekly, juried outdoor market promises an eight-week season of Saturday outdoor shopping and features artists from all over the region. Admission is free, and all are welcome to enjoy the market's vibrant mix of fine art, artisan goods and live acoustic music. The lot is wheelchair-accessible, and the market is dogs-on-leashes friendly.

Concord Arts Market features a weekly mix of quality local handcrafts and fine art, and acoustic music, from the traditional to the funky, under a sea of tents. The market will run rain or shine. The farmers' market is also right next door for most arts market dates.

The market is currently seeking additional artists and performers for the spring/summer season, but spots are filling very quickly, so applications should be turned in as soon as possible. The market is juried, and several categories are very competitive. Those interested may apply at the market website: concordartmarket.com. Those without web access are also welcome to apply and should call 229-2157 for more information.

For this season, the market already boasts participating artists in photography, glass (of various media), jewelry, handbags, mosaics, children's wear, painting, fiber arts and more. Variety, quality and fun are the goal!
