How to help with this year's food drive

article tools

With the arrival of spring, the annual food drive - sponsored by United Way of Merrimack County, the Letter Carriers of Greater Concord and the Capital Region Food Program - is fast approaching. More than 49 million Americans are at risk of hunger, and the food drive is more important than ever for our neighbors in need.

This year's drive will take place on May 8. You can help in two important ways:

-Place non-perishable food donations in a bag and leave them at your mailbox on May 8 for pick-up by your letter carrier.

-Sign up to volunteer at the drive. The day will be divided into three shifts to accomplish a variety of tasks including making boxes, sorting food and packing the food boxes that will be distributed to the area food pantries. We are looking for volunteers to work the following shifts: 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1 to 3:15 p.m. and 3 to 5:30 p.m.

Your participation is key to the success of this important community effort. To volunteer or for more information, contact Val Guy at valg@unitedwymc.org or 224-2595.
