Happy 100th to Maurice Rosen!

On March 12, Maurice J. Rosen turns 100 years old.

Maurice and his wife, Miriam (deceased 1988), moved to Concord in 1934 and lived there until 1985. Upon retirement, they both moved to Boca Raton, Fla.

Born in the United States in 1909, Maurice was reared in Fitchburg, Mass., and shortly thereafter, he, his mother, Ollie, and father, Samuel, his three brothers, Manuel, Sidney and Bernard, and his sister, Evelyn, moved to Laconia. While there, Maurice attended Laconia High School.

In Laconia, his father launched Rosen's Clothing Store in the early 1900s. In 1936, Maurice moved to Concord and following in his father's footsteps, Maurice opened the Concord branch of Rosen's Clothing Store, located at 55 N. Main St. Partnering with his brother Manny, Maurice made the retail clothing store very successful. It remained a fixture on Main Street until its closing in 1978.

Maurice and his family were active members in the Jewish community and were strongly affiliated with Temple Beth Jacob in Concord.

Maurice and Miriam had two sons, Robert (deceased, 2002) and Peter, both of whom attended Concord High School. Robert graduated in 1959 and Peter in 1964. The family resided at 31 Liberty St. in Concord until the sons graduated from college.

Presently, Maurice lives by himself, in a senior community in Delray Beach, Fla.
