Grange to hold annual awards night April 20

The Concord Grange is getting ready for the 38th annual Community & Grange Membership Awards Night, to be held Monday, April 20, at 7 p.m. at the IBEW Hall, 48 Airport Road.

Grange Master Dick Patten has been organizing this annual event for 44 years. The Grange will honor the Outstanding Citizen, Police Officer, Firefighter, State Police, Legislator, Veterans (active duty and retired), Community Spirit, Youth, Media, Educator and Lifetime Achievement. In addition, the Grange will honor members who have reached certain stages in their Grange life. This year one of Concord’s members, Betty Dudley will reach her 85th year in the organization, but will not be able to attend.

This meeting is open to the public with family and friends welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served prior and after the meeting. Non members who would like to join the Grange will be able to that evening. The membership is open to anyone 14 years and older.

Contact Patten at 496-2917 for information about Concord-Pineconia Grange #322. The Grange is a nonprofit organization.

Grange members are also getting ready to distribute dictionaries to third-grade students in the Concord School District and Dunbarton Elementary School.

The Grange will spend close to $1,000 this year for the dictionaries. The members of the Grange will visit the schools presenting each student with a new dictionary. The Grange has been donating to Second Start new dictionaries that are left over from the elementary schools.
