Get in on the Purple Purse Challenge

Look what Keith found in his purple purse – some kind of cryptic instructions. The other words on this page should clear things up for you.

Why does Keith have a purple purse? For starters, it coordinates with almost everything in his wardrobe. But it’s also to help a local organization raise awareness about an important issue. Now it’s your turn to get involved in the Purple Purse Challenge. You want to see a Concord group that does good stuff win a national battle, right? Then read on.

For more information, we’ll turn it over to the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence.

“Domestic violence affects 1 in 4 women, and the number one reason victims remain in relationships with their abusers is that they lack the financial resources to break free. The New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence is committed to providing survivors with the financial knowledge, skills, and resources they need to get safe, stay safe, and thrive.

We’re taking action to stop financial abuse, but we need your help. The Coalition is the only New Hampshire organization participating in the Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse Challenge, and we’re using this opportunity to leverage your donations with corporate dollars to fund our economic empowerment work. With your help we could even win $100,000!

This fundraising campaign cannot happen without you. Please help us by becoming a fundraiser or donor today.”

As if you needed more incentive, there’s this: Though it will be impossible to look quite as good as Keith rocking the purple purse, you could still get one of your own – donations of $25 will be counted as raffle tickets and entered to win a limited edition purse designed by Kerry Washington (aka Olivia Pope on Scandal). Also, the inpidual who raises the most money will win a purple Coach purse. The contest ends at 11:59 a.m. on Oct. 3.

So, it’s pretty simple, really: Your donations to the NHCADSV keep them in the running for national prominence. They are one of more than 140 participating charities across the country to be a part of the Purple Purse Challenge. The Coalition was selected for its commitment to providing financial empowerment services to domestic violence survivors. All donations collected will benefit this cause. So why not help the NHCADSV become the most powerful money-raiser in the group?

Supporters can visit crowdrise.com/purplepurse-nhcadsv to contribute. Each week, the coalition will have the chance to win additional money through sponsored contests, more than $500,000 in total prize funding will be provided by The Allstate Foundation.

For more information, contact Maureen McDonald, community relations director, NHCADSV, at 225-8893 or by email at maureen@nhcadsv.org.

If you’d rather not donate online, you can still help the NHCADSV. In order for offline donations to be included in the challenge, it must be entered online through the organization’s Team Page. But here’s how you can make that work – a supporter may collect the donations at an in-person event and then enter the donation into the challenge with their personal credit card.
