Catch a planetarium show at these special times all week long:

– 11 a.m., “Our Place in Space”: Romp through space with Scarlet the Macaw, Indy the Elephant, Paula the Polar Bear and Crusty Crocodile.
– Noon, “Family of the Sun”: Enjoy an aurora on Saturn, see the relative positions of planets in their orbits around our star, understand eclipses and more in this live presentation.
– 1 p.m., “Two Small Pieces of Glass”: Two students encounter an astronomer and discover not only how telescopes work, but how they have enabled us to make incredible cosmic discoveries. Then, learn where you can find fascinating objects with a small telescope or binoculars in the current night sky.
– 2 p.m., “Tonight’s Sky”: This show tells you all about the current night sky plus the latest exciting information about space.
– 3 p.m., “IBEX: Search for the Edge of the Solar System”: Discover how scientists and engineers are using cutting-edge technology to explore the boundary between our solar system and the rest of our galaxy.
– 4 p.m., “Black Holes”: Explore the latest scientific knowledge on black holes. Narrated by John de Lancie, a.k.a. “Q” from “Star Trek: Next Generation.”

The children’s room will have activities all week to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2. Enter the “One Fish, Two Fish” contest, vote for your favorite Seuss book and join us for these daily activities:

Feb. 22: Drop in for paper puzzles
Feb. 23: Seuss scavenger hunt at 2:30 p.m.
Feb. 24: “Green Eggs & Ham” frame craft at 2:30 p.m.
Feb. 25: Create-a-creature at 2:30 p.m.
Feb. 26: “Horton Hears a Who” craft at 2:30 p.m.
Feb. 27: Drop in for more paper puzzles

Don’t miss the Suess party on March 2 at 6 p.m.!

The Concord Recreation Department is sponsoring February Daycations trips for grades 3 through 5. Register for one day or the week. Participants should bring snacks, drinks and lunch each day or money to purchase food.

Trips depart from the Heights Community Center. Drop-off time is 8:30 a.m., pick-up is at 4:30 p.m. The fee per day for residents is $35, $50 nonresidents.

Monday: Vertical Dreams and Boutwell’s Bowling
Tuesday: New England Aquarium in Boston
Wednesday: Mystery trip, plus roller skating in Newington
Thursday: Squam Lakes Natural Science Center and tubing at Gunstock
Friday: Museum of Science, Boston

Two day camps will also be offered. Horseback camp is from 8 a.m.-noon, ages 8-12. Residents $229 for week, nonresidents $249. There will also be a video camp offered by Concord TV from 12:30 p.m.-5 p.m., ages 10-14. Residents $103 for week, nonresidents $123.

The themes of February fun vacation camp will be explored through outdoor excursions, games, crafts, stories, live animals, songs and conservation projects. Children should bring their own lunches and snacks and be prepared to be outside with appropriate clothing.

Feb. 22: We Love Winter – learn about tracks, hibernation and snowshoeing.
Feb. 23: The Sky’s the Limit – learn about weather, birds, astronomy and more.
Feb. 24: New Hampshire’s Special Species – learn about threatened and endangered animals of our state.
Feb. 25: Slime and Scales – spend the day learning about reptiles and amphibians. (Featuring live animals!)
Feb. 26: Recycling Revolution – learn how we affect the Earth and what we can do to protect it.

The camp fee for members is $40 per child per day, $50 nonmembers. Camper drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m.; after-hours care is available from 4-5:30 p.m. for $8 members $10 nonmembers per child per day.

Concord Family YMCA

YMCA camps are open children in Kindergarten through age 5. Bring a lunch, bathing suit and towel, sneakers for gym activities, and appropriate outdoor clothing. Camp is from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

Feb. 24: Tour of Van Otis Chocolates in Manchester
Feb. 25: Currier Museum of Art in Manchester
Feb. 26: Movie day

The cost for members is $160 for the full camp or $40 daily, nonmembers and program members $185 for the full camp or $45 daily.

A week-long camp program is offered for kids age 6-10 and 11-14. The fee for the week is based on income and the number of family members, and could be between $60-$100. (Those receiving state assistance are eligible for a lower fee). Cost includes trips.

6-10 years olds:
Feb. 22: Talent show
Feb. 23: Concord Sports Center
Feb. 24: Tubing at McIntyre in Manchester
Feb. 25: Funspot
Feb. 26: Watch movie at Red River Theatres

11-14 year olds will participate in Wii tournaments, cooking, games and sports. Daily field trips are as follows:
Feb. 22: Ice skating at Tri-Town Arena, Hooksett
Feb. 23: Bowling at Boutwells
Feb. 24: Watch IMAX movie at Cinemagic, Hooksett
Feb. 25: Concord Sports Center
Feb. 26: Museum of Science, Boston

The Currier Museum of Art will offer free admission during vacation week. (The museum is closed on Tuesday.) Visit currier.org for hours and scheduled activities.
