Electronics recycling day at NHTI

NHTI's Environmental Action Club is sponsoring an Electronics Recycling Day on Wednesday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is a great opportunity to safely and responsibly dispose of your old electronics – computers, monitors, TVs, etc. Other household electronics will also be accepted (like entertainment equipment and kitchen appliances). A truck will be stationed at NHTI's Parking Lot B to collect your equipment.

All electronics will be disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. Working electronics will be donated to schools and organizations that partner with the CRT Recycling, the event vendor.

Parts that are reclaimable will be reused in their component forms (chips, wires, glass). All non-reusable parts are shredded and recycled. Monitors and televisions are 100 percent recycled in an environmentally safe manner in compliance with New Hampshire state law, which bans their disposal in landfills or incinerators. Hard drives that are removed will be shredded at CRT Recycling's facility in Brockton, Mass. Nothing is shipped to foreign countries, where waste is often uncontrolled or poorly regulated.

There is no charge for disposing computers, computer accessories and other electronics, but a $10-15 fee will be charged for TVs, depending on TV housing type (plastic or wood). Additional voluntary donations will be accepted to benefit the Partners in Health Haiti Relief Fund.
