Comet’s Tale: How the Dog I Rescued Saved My Life
Steven D. Wolf
2012, 257 pages
Nonfiction
Steven Wolf’s body is in real trouble. Wolf has a very painful spinal condition and can only walk hunched over with the help of two canes. He goes to a ranch to “take a look” at some rescued greyhounds. Once there, he sits on the couch to rest. A dog that had been abandoned in a cage at a racetrack and who wouldn’t interact with anyone comes over and puts her head on his lap.
Comet chose him. This begins a rocky and amazing tale. Have you ever heard of a greyhound service dog? I hadn’t either. But through trial and error, Comet learns to help Wolf. The bond they have is extraordinary. Wolf saves Comet, but in the end Comet literally saves Wolf’s life.
