Betrayed: A Rosato & Associates novel

Lisa Scottoline

2014, 343 pages

Fiction

Judy Carrier, associate at Rosato & Associates, a law firm in Philadelphia, is at a crossroads in her personal life and professional life.  Does she really want to defend asbestos manufacturers in 75 damage cases? Is her relationship with Frank going anywhere?    Before she can resolve these issues, she has to deal with her aunt’s cancer surgery. But when she visits her aunt, she gets embroiled in the death of Iris, an illegal immigrant friend of her aunt’s, and in the hit and run death of her aunt’s parish priest.  Her investigation leads to a possible drug ring, getting physically assaulted and the death of other illegal immigrants. Can she tie all of the pieces together to show that Iris’s death was a murder?  Are the local police involved?   Scottline is an expert in building suspense and in this book she keeps the reader on the edge of their seat until the final page.
