Concord Grange to host community awards night

Concord Grange #322 will hold its 38th annual Grange & Community Recognition Awards on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the IBEW Hall, 48 Airport Road.

This evening will also kickoff the 100th anniversary for Concord-Pineconia Grange. The Grange has been a staple on the Concord Plains-Heights for 100 years.

Many people have no idea what this non profit, fraternal organization open to men and women with equal voting has done through the years. The Grange is not only open to farmers, but open to anyone who has a love for their community.

The Grange began in Concord 140 years with a chapter in East Concord. Mountain Grange #16 was organized in 1873 but closed two years later. Dick Patten will be presenting the community recognition awards for the 43rd year to an outstanding police officer, firefighter, teacher, citizen, youth, community spirit, and more.

In addition, two people will be honored for their lifetime achievements.

There will be refreshments served prior and after the public meeting. If anyone has Grange memorabilia, please bring it that night. The Grange has scheduled several public events this year to celebrate this milestone.

Please call Dick Patten at 496-2917 for Grange information.
