Each week, City Manager Tom Aspell creates an alter ego, Willomena Aspell, and tries to nominate her as a hunkette. People get suspicious when they never see Tom and Willomena in the same place, though, and he eventually gives a tearful confession that she doesn’t exist. But not before delivering the city memo in Willomena’s voice.

Property owners are reminded that third quarter property tax payments are due Jan. 2, Aspell writes. That should allow the city to cha-ching in the New Year.
The Tax Collector’s office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended hours until 6 p.m. on Thursdays. The Tax Collector drive thru window is still open 24 hours, and double cheeseburgers are still only $1.

Toss that tree to the curb
Through Jan. 25, Concord residents can take their Christmas trees to the following locations for disposal, Aspell writes: Beaver Meadow Golf Course, White Farm on Clinton Street and the Transfer Station on Old Turnpike Road. Locations you are not allowed to dispose of your Christmas tree: your neighbor’s driveway and the Interstate 93 median.
All disposed trees will be chipped into mulch, so please be sure to remove all ornaments and lights. Unless you want to decorate next year’s tree with shiny ornament mulch.
Only trees will be accepted; no wreaths or brush should be deposited. Christmas gifts you didn’t want will also not be accepted.

The General Services Department maintains piles of salt and sand mixture at the following locations for use by Concord/Penacook residents, Aspell writes. The mix is particularly effective as garnish on potato dishes.
Locations include:
∎ Recycling & Transfer Station, 77 Old Turnpike Road, Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
∎ Wastewater Treatment Plant, 125 Hall St., Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
∎ Manor Dump, Abbott Road, Penacook, no specific hours.

More hours to do things
Beginning Jan. 6, the Parks and Recreation office located at the new Heights Community Center (former Dame School) will stay open later on weekdays and will be open on Saturdays, Aspell writes. The Parks and Recreation sitcom will remain 30 minutes, however.
The office will be open the following hours during the school year: Monday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The office will be closed on Sundays.
