Calling all local arty-pants

To all the aspiring Monets out there, we have the contest for you: the fourth annual Capitol Kids Spring Art Show. This initiative of Main Street Concord and downtown merchants will help make downtown more like the MET. They're looking for kids up to age 18 to submit original artwork to hang in shop windows from May 1 to 15. Everyone who submits will be entered into a drawing and could potentially a win prize. What type of prizes you ask? Totally sweet ones donated by sponsors and downtown merchants, of course!

To help inspire you, a participant from last year, Jack Rich of Bow, took time out of his busy schedule to answer a few questions about the contest. For more information and an entry form, look no further than the next page.

Age: 11

Where do you go to school? Bow Memorial School.

Grade: 5

What did you submit last year? A painting of a vase with flowers.

What shop was it displayed in? Interior Additions

Are you participating again this year? I am thinking about it. I might do a drawing of a NASCAR racetrack.

How has life been for you now that you're such a famous artist? I feel great that I am a well-known artist. I love doing artwork. My painting is now on a whole bunch of stuff including mugs, key chains, tote bags and more.

Any advice for other budding artists? They should do art work that they love to do. It's lots of fun.
