Association for the Blind receives support

The Lincoln Financial Foundation recently awarded $6,000 to the New Hampshire Association for the Blind for its vital peer support programs in Concord, Manchester and the Seacoast.

Since 1996, the association has found that group peer support is the most effective strategy to help people who are losing their sight or have lost their sight. The overall goal of the program is “to advance the independence of persons who are blind and visually impaired.”

The group model is based upon sharing experiences, mutual respect and empathy. The groups are facilitated by counselors, clients and social work interns.
