Art show reception

The Woman's Club of Concord opens its doors to the public Oct. 5 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for an invitational art show reception. “Empowering Women Of All Ages” is an inclusive show featuring the work of women across generations. The exhibit opens Oct. 5 and will remain in place until Oct. 31. It is open to the public on the 5th and open upon request and during special events thereafter, during the month of October. The show is a fundraiser for the WCC's scholarship fund and a donation will be suggested, though not required, at the door. Each year, the WCC awards a scholarship to a female student graduating from a Concord Area high school.

The Woman's Club of Concord traditionally holds First Friday social events. This First Friday is a celebration of women artists and features women artists from various organizations in the community. Works from members of the Women's Caucus on Art, students from NHTI's art department, and sewing students from Girls Inc. of Concord are all woven into the fabric of this show. The WCA and NHTI artists will have two-dimensional pieces on display in the WCC's historic Chamberlin House. The sewing students at Girls Inc. of Concord have contributed their recently completed collaborative art quilt – a project that engaged the hands and imaginations of nearly a dozen girls ages 6 to 12.
