Another reason why the library is so cool

The Concord Public Library now subscribes to World Book Online, an enhanced suite of reference resources composed of specific databases for all ages. These databases are continually updated so they reflect current news as well as historical information.

World Book Advanced is a reference tool that includes encyclopedia, multimedia, periodical, e-book and primary source databases, fully integrated in a single search. This resource is tailored to the needs of students in high school and college. Access is provided to thousands of full-text English-language electronic books (e-books) in the areas of fiction and nonfiction, as well as books in Spanish, French, Italian, Flemish, Welsh, Latin and Portuguese. World Book Advanced also provides primary sources in the form of documents, letters, books, speeches, articles, records, interviews and images. Special reports, timelines and tables are other enhanced features.

World Book Student includes the articles of the World Book Encyclopedia, a biography center, dictionary, atlas, an extensive multimedia collection, thousands of editor-selected websites, correlations to curriculum standards, headline news from PBS, an “Explore New Hampshire” section and much more.

World Book Discover is a reference database aimed at users in the middle grades. World Book Discover also offers engaging reference resources for students reading below grade level due to language or learning difficulties, with content and tools specifically developed for these students. The collection includes reference articles, text-to-speech capabilities, learning and life skills activities, research tools, multimedia, and interactive video to draw students into curriculum-related topics and subjects relevant to older students.

World Book Kids is the premier general reference website developed especially for younger users. Based on the award-winning World Book Student Discovery Encyclopedia, this classroom-tested site offers simple navigation, easy-to-read articles, thousands of illustrations and a wealth of engaging activities.

World Book Spanish Language Encyclopedia is a reference source for Spanish speaking students.
