Get ready to party it up for Intown Concord’s Annual Celebration

We’re lucky enough to live in a city in which there’s pretty much always some kind of party going on that you can drop into. It’s just that kind of vibe around here, and we’re okay with that.

And in that vein, we’re here to report that Intown Concord has a whole lot of fun in store for its 2nd Annual Celebration, which will be held March 29 at Cole Gardens from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

Last year was the first year of the now annual celebration. Before then the group used to hold what it called the “annual meeting.”

“We’ve switched it,” said Michelle Motuzas Johnson, Intown’s executive director. “Annual meetings are boring, and we just want to have fun.”

We have a very similar outlook on life, but you knew that already.

Anyway, the event will be held in the greenhouses at Cole Gardens. That venue should provide plenty of space for schmoozing and dancing, of which there will be plenty going on at the celebration, we were promised.

The Tall Granite Big Band will be at the event to provide the live soundtrack to all the dancing. And speaking of dancing, you’ll also have the chance to see Intown events and outreach coordinator Kate Fleming and Aaron “Mr. Aaron” Jones show off their moves that earned them the coveted “Hot Stuff” award at this year’s Dancing With the Concord Stars.

Centennial Inn will cater the event, so you can enjoy some high-class food at this high-class party. The caterer will also operate a cash bar, so make sure you hit the ATM before you go.

There will be some silent auctions going on throughout the night. The prizes were officially billed as so awesome they had to be kept secret, but we worked some magic and found out that a plane ride and something from Local Baskit will be among the offerings.

Tickets to the event are $30 and can be purchased online through Eventbrite (there’s a link on Intown’s Facebook page). Limited tickets will be available at the door. For more info, call 226-2150 or email info@intownconcord.org.
