Staffers at Havenwood Heritage Heights teamed up last week to see who could fit more adults into a Volkswagen Beetle. Havenwood is celebrating its 50th anniversary all year long, and the Stuff a Bug competition was the latest installment of fun activities going on throughout the year. After a lot of contorting, cramming and twisting, both teams -- Stuffed Bugs (green) and Herbie's Love Children (blue) -- managed to stuff 16 adults into a staffer's 2004 convertible Beetle. After an odd tie-breaker, which ended up being based on the age of the first person into the car for the second team, the Stuffed Bugs were determined the winners. Though when you pack 16 adults into a little bug, everybody is a winner -- especially those in the audience. JON BODELL / Insider staff

Over the course of 12 months, we photograph a lot of things. Whether it’s an event, for a feature or something we come across, we always have our cameras ready to capture the action. And in 2017, we had a pretty good year in the ol’ snapshot department. After spending some time last week combing through every edition of the Insider, we came up with a collection of cool, fun and quirky photos we took last year – and here’s a sampling.
