Audition for ‘A Christmas Carol’ at the Audi on Monday

While we understand that not a single one of you wants to hear the word Christmas right now, it’s kind of a necessary thing.

That’s because the N.H. Theatre Factory and the Concord Community Concert Association are teaming up for a very special event this November.

After debuting at the Concord City Auditorium in 2010, A Christmas Carol: The Musical Ghost Story – N.H. Theatre Factory Artistic Director Joel Mercier’s thrilling adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic – will return to the Audi for a three-day run Thanksgiving weekend.

This musical adaptation includes modern twists, spooky ghosts and laughter provoking music was a hit when it debuted, and this brand new version will likely do the same. Who knows, maybe it will become an instant Concord holiday tradition?

Now it’s not often that we preview things this far in advance, but we promise it’s for good reason. While the shows aren’t until Nov. 24-26, open auditions are happening Monday at the Audi.

So if you’ve ever wanted to be in a Christmas play, here’s your big chance.

Youth auditions (for ages 7 to 17) will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. There is no preparation needed as auditioners will be taught a short dance and song from the show.

As for the adults, you are asked to show up at 6:30 p.m. to learn the dance call, while official auditions are 7 to 9:30 p.m. You are asked to prepare a short musical selection (about a minute in length), that should be in the style of musical theatre, show off your best vocal notes and express acting. Most importantly, pick a song you love to perform. Also bring sheet music as a pianist will be provided.

There will also be auditions held May 30 in Derry and call backs will be held in Derry on May 31.

Auditioners are encouraged to sign up by sending an email to info@nhtheatrefactory.org.
