Now that Thanksgiving is over, it’s time to get down to business. By that, we mean it’s time to start really getting ready for Christmas, the main course of the holiday season.

Christmas rivals Halloween in terms of the holiday with the most accompanying decorations, and while the pumpkin may be the centerpiece of the Halloween spread, the king of the Christmas display is, of course, the tree.

If you’re one of the many out there who still don’t have a tree, just a few weeks away from the big day, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered.

We spent some time last week going around Concord and Penacook looking for places that sell Christmas trees. We searched for places that sell pre-cut, ready-to-go trees as well as places that let you pick out and cut down the tree yourself. Here’s a little selection of what we found – keep in mind that there are always little pop-up shops, churches and charities that sell trees but don’t really advertise or announce their presence, so keep an eye out for more places.

Rossview Farm

Rossview Farm (85 District 5 Road) is back in the cut-your-own-tree game after taking the last two years off.

Each tree is priced individually – if there’s no price tag, it’s not for sale. Once you’ve cut it down, the staff will pick it up on a tractor and bring it back to the front of the farm for you to throw on the roof of the ol’ car.

They’re open until about 3 p.m. every day, but call ahead first (228-4872) to confirm specific hours.

River Road Plantation

River Road Plantation (5 River Road, Penacook) also offers cut-your-own trees. If you’re closer to Penacook than District 5 Road in Concord, this place should be right up your alley.

Hours are 9 a.m. to dark daily, and you can call 664-9350 for more information.

Arnie’s Place

Arnie’s (164 Loudon Road) is a pre-cut tree-selling veteran, and they’re at it again this year. Trees, wreaths, garland – you name it, they have it.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 or 9 p.m. (depending on business) daily until the trees are gone – so get there fast!

Everett Arena

Everett Arena is no stranger to tree-selling, either. This year, trees will be sold in the parking lot from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Do some skating and take home a tree!
