It’s all fun and games at the city’s dog park

JON BODELL / Insider staffIt was all fun and games for pups Daisy, Sheffield and Payton at the John J. Hickey and Sandy E. Sanel Dog Park on Old Turnpike Road last week. Abby Tracy, owner of Sheffield and Payton, made the trip up from Manchester. “This is by far my favorite park around,” she said. It was a similar story for Kevin Gerry, who drove Daisy to the park from Gilmanton. “We come here all the time,” he said. The park, though not packed with dog amenities, is more than serviceable – it’s divided into two sections to keep big dogs separate from small ones, and there’s plenty of seating for humans. And, it’s located in a nice shady spot along the river, so it makes for nice scenery. There are some basic rules, but the most important one is highlighted with a big yellow sign: “If your dog poops, you scoop!” Good rule.

Of all of the rules the park has, this has to be the most important. We endorse this rule! (JON BODELL / Insider staff)

Some nice student made this cute sign for the dog park, which tells people that it is, in fact, a dog park. (JON BODELL / Insider staff)
