Penacook Farmers Market opens Monday

The Penacook Village Farmers Market, put on by the Penacook Village Association, will open for its seventh year on Monday at the 1834 Rolfe House on 11 Penacook St. in Penacook.

The market, which is opening a little earlier this year, will run each Monday, from 4 to 6:30 p.m., through Aug. 29. With the short winter and people wanting more markets opening earlier made the most sense. And we’re all about making sense.

Last year, the market averaged 203 shoppers from June until the end of August, with 320 attending one day in August.

You can buy fresh local vegetables and fruit from your local farmer neighbors in a country setting along with all the country smells. Baked goods, prepared food and even free popcorn will be available. Nothing wrong with tasty food and free stuff.

Use your SNAP/EBT card, debit or credit card to make purchases thanks to the Merrimack County Conservation District. Also, like last year, all coupons for all local farmers markets will be honored. And local means in Merrimack County, but the limit is one coupon per visit.

Back again, there will be live entertainment each week. The opening act will be Audrey and Clayton, performing original folk music on fiddle and piano.
