This cake is for the birds – Tue, 31 Mar 2015

The Audubon held a Spring on the Wing event last weekend, complete with a cake baking contest, which we believe should be part of every local event (also, we’re available as taste testers/judges. Like, whenever.) Anyway, Conor Fitzgerald, son of “Monitor” advertising celebrity Candace Fitzgerald, entered this bad boy and came home with second place in the Family category. The nest is made of Chinese Lo Mein noodles with melted marshmallows, a little vanilla and some cadbury mini eggs inside (if only they really came from birds!) Candace did note that the bird is not edible. For all his good work, Conor walked away with a gift certificate to Gibson’s Bookstore. We know one book he doesn’t need to buy there: “Baking Bird Cakes for Dummies.” He’s already a pro!
