Tree lighting update: Concord Fire to usher in St. Nick

The Concord Christmas Tree Lighting is finalizing plans for this year’s 27th annual event. The Concord Fire Department will bring Santa Claus to the plaza at 5 p.m. It was reported that the Boscawen Fire Department would do the honors; however Concord will provide the jolly elf from the North Pole’s transportation to the plaza.

Donations are still urgently needed to help defray the expenses. If you have made a pledge to coordinator Dick Patten, please send your pledge donation now. Patten cannot commit to various special activities until the donations are received and deposited in the bank. Please contact Patten at 496-2917 with any questions. The event is shaping up to be a big evening, planned with something for all ages. Weatherman Al from Derry TV will be a special guest, joining emcee A.J. Dukette on stage. The Rev. Robert Reed of Catholic TV in Boston will conduct a blessing of the tree and the creche at 4:30 p.m.
