End homelessness

In a true spirit of community, the people of Concord have come together recently to address the urgent crisis of homelessness. As you may know, the Concord Coalition to End Homelessness recently secured a temporary family shelter in Concord. The response to volunteer requests has helped staff the shelters at First and South Congregational Churches; however, volunteers are still needed for the following efforts, and any amount of time you could give would be very appreciated.

Here are two opportunities to help:• Temporary Emergency Family Shelter at the Tobey School on Fruit Street: Volunteers are immediately needed to be “on-call” overnight to shelter those without a home or without heat from now until March 31. Shifts are 6-11 p.m. or 11 p.m.- 8 a.m. Training will be on site at your first shift. Volunteers will be called to come in only when there are families in need of shelter. Please contact the TEF shelter director Mike Riley at Tefshelter@gmail.com or 903-3303.Day Resource Center: Volunteers are needed for the morning (9-11:30 a.m.) or afternoon shift (1:30-3 p.m.) at the Day Resource Center at South Congregational Church, to act as a greeter for those coming in to work on issues that may be keeping them in the ranks of the homeless. Please contact sochurch@sochurch.org.

Thank you for your support!
